What You Need To Know


The Kokoda Challenge 2012 - 14th and 15th July

***Registration opens 1st February, 2012 at 6am (Queensland time)***

Team spots are limited and fill within hours of opening, so it is essential to be organised in advance. Ensure you have all the information in front of you before starting the registration process.

To register successfully, you will need:

  • Contact and personal details for at least of two of your team members. 
    The Challenge is a team event and you must participate as a team of four. It is not a relay.
  • Your payment details
    - Registration fees are $440.00* per team and is payable on registration (*inc GST). The Registration fee is non refundable.
    - A further $1500.00 in fundraising is required by the 1st July, 2012.  In 2011, the average team raised $2,300.00 in support of the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program so the mandatory contribution should be a walk in the park (pun intended)

About the Challenge
 

  • The course is 96km with 14 Major Checkpoints 
  • Your Support Crew will give you food, water and much needed encouragement at the 5 Major Checkpoints
  • The remaining Checkpoints are staffed by Kokoda Challenge Officials
  • The course starts at Firth Park in Mudgeeraba, and follows selected fire trails and paths through the Gold Coast Hinterland including areas of Austinville, Springbrook, Numinbah Valley, Beechmont and Clagiraba to the finish line at the Nerang Velodrome.

  • 96km is the actual distance of the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea
  • There is a 39 hour time limit in honour of the 39th Militia, the first Australian Troops to step foot on the Kokoda Track
