What You Need To Know

 The Stan Bisset Cup 2012 - 14th - 15th July

***Registration opens March 1st, 2012 at 6am (Queensland time)***

  • Team spots fill very quickly, so make sure you're organised - you will need to have the name, date of birth, phone number, address, shirt size and an emergency contact person (including phone number) of the team supervisor(adult/teacher) and at least two of the students in the team

  • Paying for your team - when registering you will have the option to either pay by credit card or we send you an invoice that is payable by cheque, transfer or cash within 7 working days

  • Fundraising payments must be received by Friday 22 June to secure the team's spot

  • There is a limit of THREE team entries per school, making it fair for everyone and allowing for more schools to get involved

  • You must be at least 15 years old to enter the Stan Bisset Cup while the Jim Stillman Cup  is more suited to junior school students

  • Registration costs $220 per team (Inc GST) and the minimum fundraising contribution is $600 but we know you can easily raise more than that

  • Teams must consist of 4 students and 1 adult supervisor, normally a teacher or parent

  • There are 14 Major Checkpoints along the 96km course. Your Support Crew will give you food, water and much needed encouragement at five Major Checkpoints. The remaining Checkpoints are manned by Kokoda Challenge Officials

  • The course starts in Mudgeeraba, and follows selected fire trails and paths through Austinville, Springbrook, Numinbah Valley, Beechmont and Clagiraba to reach the finish line in the Nerang Velodrome

  • 96km is the actual distance of the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea

  • There is a 39 hour time limit in honour of the 39th Militia, the first Australian Troops to step foot on the Kokoda Track

  • Make sure you complete the Waiver Form (found under the competitors area)

What to get excited about

  • The Stan Bisset Cup is named in honour of decorated Kokoda Veteran Stan Bisset MC OAM MID  who passed away in 2010

  • The Challenge is a great opportunity to have a hands on learning experience that tests mental and physical toughness

  • The money raised will help other teenagers who need the support, encouragement and the learning that the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program has to offer

  • It’s a chance for students and teachers to form bonds outside of the classroom environment
